Jenny Thornton

Jenny Thornton was admitted as a solicitor and barrister in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1983 with a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Laws (Hons). She also has a Master’s degree in Law from Cambridge University, England.

Before joining Quayside Chambers in July 2017, Jenny had been a Partner in the litigation departments of Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and Allens (now Allens Linklaters) and was the managing partner of Clyde & Co’s Perth office.

Jenny has represented parties in large and high profile litigation in the District, Supreme, Federal and High Courts. She also represents parties in arbitration proceedings and mediations.

Jenny also acts as a mediator in District Court, Supreme Court and Federal Court matters.

Jenny has extensive experience in almost all areas of commercial insurance. She has advised Insurers and Insureds on financial services, property damage and business interruption claims.

Jenny has also acted on regulatory inquiries and coronial investigations.

In 2017 she was named Insurance Lawyer of the Year – Western Australia (Best Lawyers), was the winner of the Chief Justice’s Prize for the Best Performed Reader at the 2017 WA Bar Readers Course and has been recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Insurance Law Barrister – Western Australia, 2017.
